Designing for Print and Web

Graphic design for the print medium is very different from designing for the web.  In Print Design, the art has priority over the content, whereas in Web Design, the artwork merely complements the content.

For print, not only does the resolution and scale differ but the whole approach to print design and production requires expert knowledge.  Web graphics, on the other hand, requires little more technical know-how than a basic understanding of encoding and optimization.

Print artwork can often be satisfactorily adapted for the web but the reverse is seldom the case.
